Regardless the completeness of ASME standard for design boiler and pressure vessel, sometimes unusual design situation occurs due to unique operating conditions or clients specific production criteria. In this situation, we cannot rely on analytical calculation or intuitive decision. This common problems can be solved with the help of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
You can design the geometry without any assumption and input the operating conditions such as pressure load, gravity, temperature, and many more based on your actual situation and get the best insight about your design such as maximum stress magnitude, location, displacement or even the natural frequencies and finally you can make the best decision making.
How we solved it
In this study, we use salome_meca, code_aster finite element analysis (FEA) code to solve the displacement and equivalent stress.
