Flow over and inside a building
Using Computational Fluid dynamics method to get deeper insight about ventilation design
Using Computational Fluid dynamics method to get deeper insight about ventilation design
A few details
For a large building, ventilation design is very crucial to ensure the occupants’ comfort.
The challenge of the outside wind ventilation is understanding of how the interaction between surrounding wind flow and inside building wind flow. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method, we can easily understand and get the deeper insight about the flow, hence we can make a precise decision making how to place the ventilation and make a proper sizing of it.
How we solved it
In this study, we use the Reynold-Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) method to model the flow because of its computationally-effective characteristics. But, for better detail, we can also use LES model in such case. This study was conducted using open-source CFD code, openFOAM.
We provide engineer-to-engineer solutions, from CFD and FEA project supports up to training and project consulting since 2013.
