Using Computational Fluid dynamics method to evaluate aerodynamics characteristics
A few details
Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) is one of the best option to harness wind energy at low speed operational condition. The aerodynamic design of VAWT is a mandatory process to make sure the generated torque is positive, moreover it is very important to maximise the blade efficiency. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation is a common method to perform such aerodynamic analysis. In this example, we use openFOAM CFD software to analyse the torque and efficiency of the VAWT.
How we solved it
In this study, we use the Reynold-Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) method and utilising rotating mesh to model the flow and evaluate the aerodynamic characteristics.
We provide engineer-to-engineer solutions, from CFD and FEA project supports up to training and project consulting since 2013.
